A Southern Oregon landmark
Fishing gear. Work boots. A new grill. Supplies for the house and plans for the weekend. The Black Bird brings all of it together with a personality people around Medford recognize.
We carry that character into a website built around the store’s departments, sales and events. Our work extends beyond the website into seasonal newsletters and custom software for the Black Bird Fishing Derby.

From The Black Bird
“Bob is always a pleasure to work with. He has handled multiple projects for our team and business. He is ALWAYS willing to step in when needed anytime of the day.”
01 / Bring the departments online
The Black Bird is a place to prepare for a fishing trip, find the right footwear, rent seasonal equipment or pick up supplies for a home project. The website gives that range an organized home.
Department pages let shoppers explore fishing, camping, clothing, outdoor kitchens and more. Rental and service information answers a different question: what can the store help me do?
The sales links stay close at hand, connecting the browsing experience with Black Bird and Ace promotions. Shoppers can check the offer, explore a department, and find the store’s locations and hours.

02 / Keep the offers coming
A holiday weekend, a summer outing or a seasonal sale gives customers another reason to visit. We design and produce newsletters around those moments, combining product features, offers and the Black Bird identity.
The Labor Day and Summer Fun examples show different parts of that work: a bold seasonal campaign and product-focused sections for outdoor cooking, paddle sports and footwear.
Our campaign archive also includes Spring Fever, Memorial Day, Father’s Day and Fourth of July. This is ongoing marketing that keeps pace with the store’s calendar.
Talk About Your Newsletter03 / Build around the event
The Black Bird Fishing Derby brings anglers to Diamond Lake for a day of fishing and competition. Behind the event are registrations, check-ins, weigh-station records and results that need to stay organized.
We built Black Bird Derby Manager to connect those jobs. Online and cashier registration feed into staff check-in, catch recording and live leaderboard displays.
The public event page introduces the derby. The custom application supports the people running it, from the first registration to the catches entered at the weigh station.

Online and cashier registration, with staff tools to check participants in.
Weigh-station records entered into the event system as catches arrive.
Displays update as catches are entered so event standings can be shared.
04 / Keep a visual website moving
A retail website needs room for photographs and promotions. We improved image loading, reduced image weight, and removed unused font and style downloads while preserving the store’s presentation.
The retained September 10 work log records a mobile performance score rising from 60 to 86 and page weight falling from 1,715 KB to 528 KB in the before-and-after lab runs.
That makes performance part of the ongoing work, alongside the content and campaigns that bring people back.

The reach
The website gives shoppers a place to check departments, promotions and events between visits. The retained reporting snapshot shows search as a substantial source of that traffic.

One business. Connected work.
For The Black Bird, the work connects a recognizable retail brand with changing promotions, seasonal campaigns and a community event. Each piece supports a different part of the same business.
Tell us what keeps your business moving. We can help you bring it online.
