A 20-Point Website and Search Checklist

Work through this list the way a home inspector walks through a house, marking each item pass, issue or not checked. Rankings and AI answers depend on much more than this list, and a finished checklist gives you a concrete set of things to fix and verify.

Access and Page Controls

  • 1. Your important public pages load successfully.
  • 2. A made-up page address shows a proper “page not found” response.
  • 3. Visitors can reach important pages through normal links on the site.
  • 4. Robots and indexing settings match what you intend to be public.
  • 5. Canonical addresses and sitemap URLs use your main public domain.

  • 9. Locations and service areas match where the business is and where it works.
  • 10. Credentials and claims about your history have been checked.

Page Content

  • 11. Each important page answers a distinct question.
  • 12. The title and main heading describe that subject.

Russco in Google’s AI Overview

On September 16, 2026, we searched Google for “who does trench digging and land clearing in Roseburg Oregon.” Google’s AI Overview named Russco Enterprises, drawing on its homepage, its trench-digging service page and its Roseburg service-area page.

One dated search observation from Merlin, Oregon. AI answers vary by person, place and time. See the Russco Enterprises project

Customer Actions

  • 16. The next step is easy to see on a phone.
  • 17. Contact links go where they should.
  • 18. Form errors tell visitors how to fix the problem.
  • 19. Each successful inquiry can be matched to a message you received.
  • 20. Reports count clicks, contact events and received inquiries separately.

Use the Findings

Record the URL and the evidence for every issue, then assign the fix. Recheck that exact item after the change, and mark it complete once the recheck passes.

Our SEO service and website support each cover different parts of this list. For a detailed example of documenting checks and results, see Oregon RV Outlet.

Turn the Checklist Into a Work List

For each check, record Pass, Needs work or Not checked, with the affected URL and what you saw. Leave “Not checked” visible so everyone can see what still needs a look.

Fix a broken customer action or an unintended indexing block first. Next, add missing buying information to your important pages. Save wider wording changes for a planned update so you can work through the pages in batches.

For example, “Contact form shows success but no inquiry arrives” means tracing the delivery path. “Product page doesn’t state the selected model” means a content or selection fix. Keep those as separate line items so each one gets the right fix.

Use the implementation schedule to assign the repairs, and keep this checklist as your record of what you found. Start this week with the customer actions: open your five most important pages on your phone and try to contact yourself from each one.
